There’s been a lot of anticipation surrounding our Windows release. The Mac/iPhone version of TruHu has been available for a year, and we’ve been getting a lot of inquiries – “where’s Windows?”. We’re happy to say that the wait is over.
So, TruHu Windows is live, and you can get it from our downloads page!

How to Use TruHu
To make it easy for our new users, we created the demo video below along with this page on how to use TruHu. The video was recorded on the 1.2b275 release of TruHu for Mac, but the app flow has remained mostly the same since then.
A Brief History of TruHu
Ever since we came up with the concept, developing TruHu has been a pioneering adventure. To put it simply: TruHu is something entirely new and different.
I’ve been working as a color consultant for over 20 years, helping people match the screen to print. I was always surprised by how few people calibrated their screen, given how important this is.
I figured this was due to a combination of cost, difficulty of using the software, and inconvenience of keeping track of the measurement device, the colorimeter.
Once iPhones started making RAW data available, I thought it would be possible to convert this to the colorimetric data necessary to calibrate a monitor. Basically, to use the colorimeter you have in your pocket.
After lots of hard work, including building a Lookup table for every iPhone model, TruHu was born. The Mac version has been available for about a year. In the meantime, we’ve heard your feedback, and are really happy to launch TruHu for Windows.
Traditional calibration products, in addition to being a bit pricey, time consuming and not so easy to use. For instance, they expect the user to know what kind of backlight is in their monitor or their preferred gamma.
Through TruHu, more color professionals than ever before can now easily calibrate their monitors on a regular basis without worrying about their backlight technology or any other technical details. Graphic designers, photographers, video editors, VFX designers, game designers, print editors, and more can now get an easy-to-use, high-value calibration solution.
In fact, 70% of our user base has never calibrated their screen, while the other 30% say TruHu performs the same as their colorimeters.
TruHu is the perfect gateway to a better and more consistent color. For many users, it’s the last calibration technology they’ll need. Typical colorimeters, like the Datacolor Spyder X and the Calibrite Color Checker, are alternative ways to calibrate monitors. They cost more and require specialized hardware. However, […] the final results for many customers may not appear much different.

Everything went well and it was calibrated very nicely and wasn’t really different from my own calibration but it made a brightness and saturation change perfectly, I notice the difference and the difference is actually an improvement.

The Future of Color Accuracy with TruHu
So if you don’t have a colorimeter-based monitor calibrator, now you have the chance to calibrate your display with TruHu, and test it out with our free trial option.
Unlike physical colorimeters, which you might not have with you or you might lose, TruHu will always be there on your phone, ready to calibrate any Monitor you come across.
Today, our work continues as we add support for new monitors and iPhone models and continue to improve TruHu’s accuracy and capabilities.
Together, we can achieve our dream that one day, with the help of TruHu, anyone who needs a color-accurate monitor will have the ability to easily and affordably address this need.
Thank you for helping us make it this far! Here’s to a colorful future! 🌈
